Superiority is a Foolish Idea

A lion is not superior to a deer, unless proof of superiority lies in the degree of violence

Superiority is a concept created by humans, and thence applied to every idea. A lion is not superior to a deer, unless proof of superiority lies in the degree of violence – an idea most of us have come to believe in. We get into war to prove the superiority of our ideas. We have fought enough wars to prove our superiority, as if a physical victory is a proof of the superiority of our thought. Superiority is a foolish idea.

Superiority is a foolish idea.

Man applies superiority to weigh clan against clan, race against race, state against state, industry against industry, company against company, club against club, product against product, man against man, man against woman, man against animal, relationship against relationship, dream against dream..

Man applies superiority to weigh dream against dream..

You know why some people feel inferior? Well since some people feel superior. As soon as man introduced the idea, it created unnecessary complexities in the brain. No wonder psychologists call those things as superiority or inferiority complexes.

Do away with Nobel Prize, the Oscars and the Olympics. They give you nothing but negativity.

Most of our Awards are drawn around this notion of superiority, be it Nobel Prize, the Oscars or the Olympics. So should we do away with these? Absolutely. They give you nothing but negativity.

The act of creating a difference by hierarchy is sacrilege.

The act of creating a difference by hierarchy is sacrilege. Difference is, of course, there, but the difference does not put one ahead or behind, it makes us stand apart.

Differences do not put one ahead or behind, it makes us stand apart.

Do you feel this way about superiority? Please feel free to share your feelings in the comments below.
